I would love to try that nifty cutting tool, but I am happy with the decals in most of the kits I have. I was in Graphic Design for 35 years, so clever, helpful hardware is part of the game. Btw, Zin, I noticed you, too, had commented on Plasmo's 1/72 Airfix Mosquito (this was several months ago, but I have just rewatched the vid in anticipation of my build of the same kit). Well the point is that he covers his decals in a few layers of varnish, which he then sands down to reduce the otherwise little step caused by Cartograph's lovely carrier film. Plasmo is a crafty beggar.

Hi Zin! Glad to hear your thoughts. Hmmmm. I recall a story about the US space program. The story goes that NASA spent a lot of money coming up with a ball-point ink pen that would work in zero gravity, while the Soviets used pencils... 😎 Is the 'NASA' Dspaie the equivalent to the 'Soviet' circle round stencil template you can use with a fine knife that costs about £5? 😁

Hello Steve,

I remember those pens- one of my school chums owned one. I recall reading the blurb which was full of hyperbole about the pressurised canister in the refill which enabled one to write at any angle- we tested this and it did work!

I gather that the anti pencil strategy at NASA had to do with the possibility of pieces of lead possibly working their ways into electrical switches, thereby causing unwanted short circuits and other difficulties.

I wonder if this is true, but it seems plausible eh?

Thanks for writing- I hope you drop by again!!

Regards,

Z

Hi Zin! Thanks for stopping in for the review today! Yes, that was the fear, although they did use mechanical pencils for Gemini and Apollo. And, I think, for the shuttle they used styluses on reactive tablets... Hope you enjoyed your New Year's day, and wishing you a healthy and happy 2024. Drop me a line on your pressies... 😀
